The name Mamatresence is really special to me...

Mama... One's Mother.

Matresence... The developmental process of becoming a mother, encompassing the physical, emotional, psychlogical and social transformations that occur during the transition to motherhood.

Mamatresence was an idea which came about during maternity leave with my daughter.  I couldn't imagine not spending every day together when I needed to return back to work, the thought was heartbreaking.  I spent many hours during naps, evenings, in the middle of the night researching, designing and making plans.

During my pregnancy and even once i'd given birth, I felt my sense of identity had shifted.  I no longer just had to get myself ready in the morning, someone else took priority and naturally I took a back seat.  I'd throw on something quick and easy and I ended up neglecting myself and losing who i was in the process.

Everyday I would carry around the typical Amazon purchase of a grey change bag which lacked my personality.  I felt I just blended in and my love of bright, vibrant colours and making an effort had quickly become lost in the busy daily life of motherhood.

Life felt chaotic and I seemed to have a million and one things to pack and carry when we ventured out and left the house, the underneath of the pram was packed to the brim with items that forever needed loading and unloading.

I then came across beautiful block print patterns and fabrics which screamed happiness, joy, colour, excitement and my personality and I knew from then on of my direction.  I set about my mission and designed the perfect bag that could hold everything and anything from baby items to things for myself, I could easily sling it over my shoulder or place underneath the pram.  Not only did this solve my issue of needing a versatile bag with plenty of space that held everything, it also answered my prayers to a bag that showcased my personality.  When wearing my samples I would always receive such positive feedback and just knew this was something I wanted to launch and bring to other mums.

This wasn't just a bag, this was a bag that carried my personality and helped me regain my sense of identity during my postpartum journey.
